This American Comedy follows the story of Lloyd Christmas and harry Dunne and their road trip to returning a brief case to its rightful owner who is stunningly attractive.
They are two good natured, innocent but unintelligent friends from Province Rhode Island, and Lloyd is tired of being a no body, he wants to follow the woman who he gave a lift to the airport to return her briefcase, so that he can have somebody, and be ‘plugged into the social pipeline’. Harry and Lloyd go to Aspen, Colorado in which they try to find the woman who Lloyd drove to the airport (Mary Swansen). They manage to get halfway there in their van and then Lloyd drives the worng way and goes a sixth of the way across the country in the wrong direction. Harry is determined to return home after being angry at Lloyd and starts walking back, Lloyd however is set on finding Mary and getting to Aspen so he trades the van for a moped to do the other half of the journey. Harry joins him after changing his state of mind and they complete their trek to Aspen. Once there they realise they have no idea where Mary lives, Harry is again angry and the pair result in a fight where the briefcase gets flung open and thousands of dollars are flung everywhere. They quickly decide to get themselves somewhere to stay as they are totally broke. They invest in a luxury hotel usually reserved for royalty, and get a Lamborghini and new clothes.
They write everything that the buy down and replace them with IOU’s. They notice Mary is having a gala and prepare to attend, getting primped and ready.
After the gala Harry realises he likes Mary too and their friendship goes through a rocky patch. They soon find out Mary has a husband who has been kidnapped and that was what the brief case of money was for as a ransom to get him back.
I love this film because if the actors. Jim Carey is an all time legend and absolutely hilarious. I love the way he portrays Lloyd and in so totally amusing. It doesn’t take much to make me laugh and I would say my humour is fairly childish therefore this film is just brilliant for me. Also Harry, played by Jeff Daniels conveys his character perfectly, just making a spectacle of himself and entertaining his audience.
This film is perfect for cheering you up and is extremely hilarious. It has great actors which manipulate the audience into believing the dumbness of the characters. Its brilliant and I would totally reccommend it
